How to Tighten the Bimba Pulley (Auto Exit Wing and Dwell Flex 4.0)

Description: When the Auto Exit Wing or the Contact Length Bimba Unit motors seem to be running but the actuator is not extending or retracting, there is a possibility that one or both pulleys on the end of the unit have loose set screws.

  1. Power off the machine and carefully remove the wiring from the Bimba Unit.
  2. Disconnect and remove the Unit from the Solder Pot Mounting.
  3. Remove the four screws from the bottom cover as shown in the example below.
  4. Tighten the two set screws on the pulley as shown below.  Ensure that one of the two sets screws line up with the Flat side of the shaft and there is clearance to the block.
  5. Place the unit with the I/O connectors on top and carefully rotate the upper pulley so that the first of two set screws is visible through the hole in the block as shown below.
  6. Tighten the set screw and again rotate the pulley until the next set screw is visible.  Tighten the second set screw. Again, remember to ensure clearance so that the pulleys don’t rub against the block.
  7. With both pulleys set screws tightened re-install the cover with the four screws and install the Bimba Unit back on the machine in reverse order of removing it.
